IMO Model Course 4.05 on Energy Efficiency Operation of Ships

A national workshop on the IMO Model Course 4.05 on Energy Efficiency Operation of Ships was held in Kuala Lumpur 20-21 February 2017 which aims to capacitate maritime training institutes and universities to deliver IMO’s Model Course to seafarers.

The workshop provided an overview of the regulations with details of various methods for energy efficiency improvement for optimised ship handling, fuel management and shipboard system planning.
The Maritime Institute of Malaysia (MIMA) presented Malaysia’s reports for;
•    Rapid assessment on the national maritime energy efficiency and emissions status;
•    National maritime energy efficiency strategy development; and
•    Incorporation of Chapter 4 MARPOL Annex VI into Malaysia’s national law.

The national workshop was hosted by Marine Department Malaysia and the Maritime Institute of Malaysia (MIMA); and officiated by Y.Bhg Dato’ Haji Baharin Bin Dato’ Abdul Hamid, Director General of Marine Department Malaysia.
