The representative from the JNPC also highlighted issues faced with the protection of the Ramsar sites in Johor over recent years. The Convention on Wetlands, or the Ramsar Convention, is an intergovernmental treaty that provides the framework for the conservation and wise use of the wetlands and their resources. The PK-TP mangroves area however is increasingly experiencing severe dieback due mainly to shipping activities in the vicinity.

Overall the meeting agreed to forward all suggestions, recommendations, and issues for further action at the Ministry of Transport level.
