Cdr Ang Chin Hup (R) giving talk on “Green Port Initiatives in Malaysia”
The presentations by the Malaysian representatives attracted much interest among the attendees on the topics and business opportunities in the country. Taiwanese businessmen looking to invest in Southeast Asia in particular Malaysia were encouraged by their government’s new ‘Go South’ policy.
Malaysia’s delegation also gained much knowledge from ports operations in Taiwan especially in their smart and green port initiatives. It is interesting to note that unlike Malaysia’s green port certification by the APEC Port Services Network (APSN), the Port of Kaohsiung is certified by the ECO Sustainable Logistics Chain Foundation which is supported by the European Seaports Organisation (ESPO) and the American Association of American Port Authorities (AAPA). MIMA would like to thank the TIPC for the opportunity to share experiences with other port organisations in the region.
