The visit by students pursuing PIIC’s Diploma in Logistics Management was to expose them to best practices adopted by MIMA as a policy research institute that serves as a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for maritime-related matters.
Briefing session
Cdr. Ang from the Centre for Maritime Economics and Industries briefed the students on the key functions of MIMA and the roles of its five research centres in regard to providing policy recommendations and options to government agencies and the maritime-related sector in the areas of the marine environment, ocean law and policy, maritime industries, security, and Straits of Malacca issues.
Participant enquiring on current maritime issues
The students took the occasion to enquire on the current status and challenges of maritime research, besides expressing keen interest on the industrial training programmes offered by MIMA.
