Dr. Rawindaran Nair delivering his talk
Dr Rawindaran mentioned the strategic importance of the South China Sea where an estimated US$5 trillion worth of goods are transported annually. Dr Rawindaran quoted the concept of ‘tragedy of the commons’ proposed by Garrett Hardin in dealing with private ownership of common resource. He later suggested the application of ‘Tragedy of the Commons’ approach for claimant states to negotiate in the overlapping claims in the South China Sea.
Overall, the talk provided a good sharing of view by Dr. Rawindaran Nair and discussion among the participants. MIMA would like to thank Dr. Rawindaran Nair for his talk and look forward for more talks by scholars in the future.
