Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) 2019 – International Training Course on Fostering Maritime Industry Management through Industrial Revolution 4.0

Hotel Istana Kuala Lumpur City Centre
19 – 30 August 2019

MIMA successfully conducted an MTCP training course on Fostering Maritime Industry Management through Industrial Revolution 4.0 from 19 to 30 August 2019. It was attended by 16 international participants, and one local participant, from ports and related governmental agencies. International participants came from Azerbaijan, Brunei, Cabo Verde, Guinea, Kenya, Lao PDR, Mauritius, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, Turkmenistan, Uganda, and Zimbabwe, while the local participant was from a high-technology think-tank.

The training was conducted by MIMA’s researchers and speakers from various backgrounds in the ports and shipping industry. Participants also visited the government administrative centre in Putrajaya, UPM-MTDC in Serdang, Port Klang Authority, Northport, and Westports in Port Klang. These trips were to help participants understand how the government, with the help of the industry key players, formulates policies to regulate and manage the maritime industry through the Industrial Revolution 4.0. They were particularly interested in the success of Malaysia’s port operations and readiness towards ports automation in Port Klang.

The training managed to enhance the competency among participants and provide them with better insight on Malaysia’s best practices in the growing complexities of the maritime industry management, through Industrial Revolution 4.0. As a Centre of Excellence (CoE), MIMA also took this golden opportunity to play a vital role in promoting Malaysia as a maritime nation.
