A Better World: SDG14 Life Below Water (Volume 6)

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were adopted by the United Nations as a universal call for a balanced social, economic, and environmental sustainability. SDG14 (Life Below Water), in particular, targets to significantly reduce marine pollution, sustainably manage coastal and marine ecosystems, minimise the impacts of ocean acidification, and regulate overfishing. The oceans’ challenges can be mitigated through enhancing the conservation and sustainable use of ocean-based resources. SDG14 also targets this goal through international, regional, and national commitments.

In pursuit of these targets, the Human Development Forum in collaboration with the United Nations and its agencies produced a serial publication: “A Better World”. The series aims to promote global actions and report progress on the fulfilment of the SDGs, as well as to drive robust sustainable development.

“A Better World” facilitates inter-agency information exchange, including the sharing of experiences and best practices from around the globe. Additionally, its materials also provide awareness-building and convey time-sensitive messages for the community and high-level readers.
