Visit by MARA Professional College Bandar Penawar, Johor

The above visit was made in conjunction with the Elements of Shipping course for the college’s fifth-semester Diploma in Integrated Logistics Management students. The main objective was to expose them to the role of MIMA as a policy research institute that serves as a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for maritime-related matters.

Cdr. Ang Chin Hup (R) welcoming lecturers from the college

Cdr. Ang from the Centre for Maritime Economics and Industries gave a brief introduction of MIMA and the role of its five research centres. He highlighted that as a growing research organisation MIMA promotes a cross-exchange of ideas on maritime matters as a means to enhance research expertise in the marine environment, ocean industries and transport, legal cooperation, and maritime security.

The visit ended with a Q&A session with many students taking the occasion to enquire and comment on the research conducted by MIMA. Most of them also showed keen interest in the job opportunities offered by MIMA to fresh graduates.
