MIMA's Centre of Coastal and Marine Environment (CMER) was invited to introduce the established Clean Coast Index (CCI) as a tool to monitor and measure the cleanliness of coastal areas in Malaysia. Deputy Minister of MESTECC YB Puan Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis launched the programme, which was held on the 16th and 17th of September.

Pollution from coastal litter negatively impacts not only the aesthetics of our beaches and coastal areas, but also the global economy. The CCI works as a measurement tool that focuses on using plastics as an indicator to ascertain the overall cleanliness of coastal areas.
